Pre-session planning:

This was the first year Local Link collaborated with another student-led activity, Resources Link, who provided a structure for our lesson plans. They were very useful as we had optimal guidelines to refer to and plan around - they really helped contribute to the ease of preparation and delivery during our sessions.

I was part of Group C, which was in the 1st rotation along with Groups A and B. As a co-secretary, I was conscious that we had to plan early in order to be fully prepared for our Thursday after-school session on the 17th of September. Thus, I created a Google Document with the session plan provided by Stephanie (Resources Link) and attached a note to the shared document asking for everyone to put some ideas down on the document.

We then compiled our ideas and chose the most suitable one for the given 6-9 age group, and saved the more advanced ones for later sessions at the lower section of the document. Then we refined the lesson plan into an agenda with a breakdown of instructions, complete with materials needed and estimated timeframe in order to organise the plan better. We also added a small section about what we should keep in mind as volunteers to further prepare ourselves to make it an effective teaching and learning session.

General Notes after session [WILL EDIT]:

- Kids were quiet at first but got more interactive after the Simon Says activity

- Most of them couldn't understand intial instructions so we adapted our session structure to Simon Says to consolidate their understanding of the terms, and then went to play antonym splat
