Second HKSSF match of the season! Victory 38-9 to WIS. Great team effort!

We started off strong, however began to lose some team coordination along the way. Passes became more sloppy and unnecessary risks such as long shots were taken, leading to turnovers. Everyone on the team became progressively restless, and this only contributed more to the problem.

To regain control both in the game and between the team, we had to combat the problem. During a timeout, with the helpful advice of Mr Gilchrist as well as team discussion, we emphasised the need to maintain a level head and strive to work more tightly as a collaborative team. Tactics were discussed, we all agreed that the direction and accuracy of our passes had to be more careful, and highlighted that shots would only be taken when close enough to the basket. Following this particular timeout, there was a notable change in our teamwork and we ultimately emerged victorious.

Over the course of the game, I realised that collaboration was the key to success. With effective communication, we could make better passes and take shots that had a higher chance of success. With team discussions and agreements on tactics/gameplay, we were able to improve our movement on the court. On a personal level, I made sure to support my team members as they went for the basket by either trying to catch the rebound or boxing out the defending team. I also refrained from passing the ball carelessly by giving some time to survey the situation; only passing when there was a good opportunity such as a team member moving into an unguarded space.
